Rest a Spell Next to the Creek in Glenwood Springs

Four Mile Barn

Staying in hotels and tourist towns can be fun, but there is a certain level of charm that can only be found in smaller bed and breakfasts.  While Glenwood Springs is known for the Hotel Colorado, there are two bed and breakfasts that should not be overlooked when planning your Colorado vacation.  These are the Mitchell Creek and Four Mile Creek Bed and Breakfasts.

Five minutes outside of downtown Glenwood Springs, you will arrive at the Mitchell Creek Bed and Breakfast.

The Mitchell Creek

Perfectly located five minutes outside the downtown area of Glenwood Springs, the Mitchell Creek Bed & Breakfast serves as the perfect spot for those looking to take advantage of all the town has to offer with the added perk of privacy and mountain scenery.

Steeped in nature, this stone home offers two rooms for guests to choose from on their Colorado vacation.  Each of the two rooms comes with a full king size bed, refreshment bar, TV, and WiFi.

In the East Suite, Glenwood overnighters will be treated to soothing tones of blue matched with a black metal bed frame.  In the West Suite, guests can relax and unwind on the king size bed underneath the plush brown comforter.

You can view the mountain wildlife and scenery from the deck perched above the Mitchell Creek property.

While the rooms are warm and inviting, the real attraction of Mitchell Creek is its landscaping and natural surroundings. Utilizing the rushing creek and diverse landscaping, this B&B offers guests picturesque scenery and a taste of the mountain wildlife with elk, deer, bears, and a variety of different bird species roaming the wooded property, all of which can be enjoyed from the deck which is perched above the property.

Four Mile Creek

Another comparable bed and breakfast is the Four Mile Creek.  This B&B offers five lodging options, two in the main building, two cabins, and a barn suite.  Contained in the main building are the Blackbird and Star rooms.

Get a different experience in each of the unique rooms at the Four Mile Creek Bed and Breakfast.

In the Blackbird Room, Glenwood vacationers will be treated to atmosphere and décor that reflects Glenwood Springs’ historical boom-town era.  Aptly named, the Blackbird room features a queen-size bed resting on a black wrought iron bed frame with the namesake creatures perched on the bed posts.

Sharing a common bathroom with the Blackbird Room is the Star Room.  In the Star Room, guests will be treated to a more fanciful and vivacious atmosphere during their Colorado vacation with an eclectic collection of folk art dominating the queen-size bedroom, which the caretakers say “will appeal to the artist in all of us.”

If privacy is a concern, guests can choose from the Garden and Creekside cabins or the Red Barn Suite. The Garden Cabin, situated in between the Four Mile Creek and the Red Barn Suite can accommodate up to four people comfortably with its queen-size bed and double sleeper sofa.

Spend some time exploring the grounds and take in the beautiful creekside scenery.

The Garden cabin incorporates an atmosphere of nature and history with its aspen wood walls in the cabin’s bathroom, salvaged pressed tin roof, and vibrant floral pattern in the kitchen area.

Also situated near the Four Mile Creek is the aptly named Creekside Cabin.  This cabin places an emphasis on the rustic cabin look with its exposed wooden beams and incorporation of barn wood walls.  This cabin, much like the Garden Cabin, comes with a queen-size bed and double sleeper sofa.  It also comes with a complete kitchen, with colorful bird-themed chandelier, and a private bathroom.

The last and most private room on the property is the Red Barn Suite, which is located in the old milking room of the historic barn.  In here, guests will have access to a full queen-size bed, full kitchen, a gas-burning fire place, and a full bathroom with claw-foot tub.
