When it comes to bed and breakfasts, they tend to have a somewhat subdued nature, oftentimes airing towards earthy tones and décor from eras gone by. On the other hand, there are times when establishments, such as the Inn at City Park, break these trends and present guests with a completely different atmosphere by blending the new with the old.
The Inn at City Park has an unassuming exterior that one typically finds with a country bungalow, but it is the interior of the building that sets it apart from the more traditional style bed and breakfasts in Fort Collins. Inside, Colorado vacationers will find five different rooms to choose from, each with their own unique style and presence.
La Pièce de Pivoine – The Peony Room
The Peony room holds the honor of being the master suite of this bed and breakfast. Matching the name of the room, this luxurious suite has a garden-inspired theme with décor to match. With creamy butter-yellow walls and accents of green and white, this room gives off a decidedly whimsical, warm and inviting atmosphere.
Being the master suite of the Inn, the Peony room comes complete with a king size bed and sitting area. As is expected of the master suite, this room is the only one with a claw-footed slipper tub which adds an extra sense of lavishness to the Peony Room.
La Pièce Cramoisie – The Crimson Room
As the name of this room suggests, the Crimson Room is steeped with rich, deep red walls. The room is accented with black, white, and tones of wood which only serve to enhance the sharpness and vibrancy of the walls. One of the aspects that sets this room apart from the others in the house is that it can host two twin beds, for a girls night out during your Colorado vacation, or a single king-sized bed for couples.
Across the hall, guests will find a spacious full bathroom which continues the crimson theme. Directly outside the windows of the Crimson room is one of the Inn’s many gardens, this one featuring a small babbling waterfall to help sooth guest to sleep.
La Pièce de Baldaquin – The Canopy Room
Despite its electric blue walls, this room is named after its signature canopy bed frame, which is unique to this room. Overlooking the south and east gardens, as well as the golf course, this room features antique mahogany furniture from the 1940s. The room also comes with its own private bathroom.
La Pièce de Feuille – The Sheet Room
Giving off a serene and relaxing air, this room is dominated by soft and subtle greens, pinks, and blues. Compared to the other rooms at the Inn, the Sheet Room takes a minimalistic standpoint when it comes to furnishing, holding only a queen-size bed, a rustic wooden folding chair, and an antique German pantry converted to an armoire from the 1920s which serves as the focal point. Despite the minimal approach, the Sheet Room has the honor of overlooking the Inn’s koi pond in the garden outside.
La Pièce de Lavande – The Lavender Room
Perhaps the most aptly named room in the entire inn, the Lavender room is immersed and surrounded by lavender, both the color and the plant. Accented with wispy shades of lavender and white, the room exudes a calm and collected atmosphere. This theme also carries into the room’s private bathroom which is fitted with a black and white tile floor and a full-sized standing shower.
Outside, guests will be treated to fragrant lavender bushes and other flowers such as day lilies mixed in. Keeping with the trends of the other rooms, the Lavender room comes complete with antique bird’s eye maple furniture.
